Non-executive Directors
The demand for well-qualified, knowledgeable and competent non-executive board members has never been greater and Coburn Blair has focused resources on becoming a niche supplier in the field.
As part of our on-going research process we make a point of establishing contact with chief executives and executive board members of major plcs who may be approaching retirement from their full-time role. We also seek out young talent and potential directors from minority groups. But, whilst holding an extensive and constantly up-dated database, all assignments we handle are researched as thoroughly and treated in the same way as any full-time appointment.
Part of our process is to include in our compliance work names put forward by existing board members and benchmark them objectively against the skill-sets that have been identified. We find the establishment of independent benchmarks is invariably helpful to the board when making an appointment.
For chairmen of high-profile boards we also offer to prepare and maintain year-on-year a long-list of relevant candidates. This provides the opportunity for considered succession planning by allowing chairmen to meet potential candidates well ahead of a vacancy arising.
Our success rate in the appointment of non-executive directors is proven and we are very pleased to provide references.
